5 Minute Grilled Nutella and Strawberry Sandwich, the quick fix dessert we’re all in need of from time to time. Made using seasonal strawberries, a good amount of Nutella and a bit of butter to get the most golden toast. It’s the easiest to make. Every bite is soft and crunchy at the same time, full of chocolate inside with jammy strawberry. If you are in need of a lift in the form of dessert and don’t want to spend any time putting something together, this is your treat!

This is one of those super simple sweet treats that ok… probably they don’t need a recipe, but I thought it’s such a delicious idea and the photos came out so beautiful I think that I decided to share it here as well.

The outside edges of the bread get crunchy and the middle stays soft and buttery, with a big hidden puddle of chocolate and jammy strawberry (the strawberries turn into a sort of jam with the heat, the key: slice them thinly).

How This Grilled Nutella and Strawberry Sandwich Came About?

It was one of those evenings where I had finished work super late and I needed a mood lift because the day had been tough. Imagine how I felt that I wasn’t even in the mood of cooking. But then I realised I happened to have some brioche bread from one of my favourite bakeries in Barcelona, Turris, and I always always always have a delicious chocolate spread in my pantry (most of the time Nutella if I am being completely honest here).

With my sister, when we lived with our parents, we sometimes made Nutella toasties. We made it basically the days when we were having ham and cheese grilled sandwiches for dinner. These are very popular in Spain and, in Catalonia (my state), we call them bikinis (yeap, like the swimwear piece of clothing, as they are cut into 2 triangles resembling the top part of a bikini I guess)

This time I also happened to have some seasonal strawberries, and the idea of chocolate and strawberries together illuminated my mind. This is a classic and delicious combination, right? So why not add them into the sandwich as well?

And BOOM, this happened.

5 Minutes Is All You Need

Every bit is as delicious as it sounds. A really great treat that can be made in just minutes. Switch on the sandwich toaster (or heat a pan), put some butter on the outside part of the bread or brioche, your choice, and fill it in with as much Nutella and sliced strawberries as you wish – don’t be to greedy or you will get a deconstructed mess after grilling instead of a sandwich, I’ve warned you!

It can be eaten at any time of day. For breakfast, in a brunch, lunch, dinner and midafternoon snack (merienda as we call it in Spanish).

Oh and it’s also super fun to prepare with kids! Get ready for a mess though.
